The best website for baseball statistics today is Fangraphs.com. They give you all the traditional statistics you’re looking for. They’ll provide you with batting averages, home run totals, runs batted in totals, strikeout totals, hit totals, and more. As far as pitchers are concerned, you can find earned run average, wins, strikeouts, walks, and more. Fangraphs.com goes far beyond the traditional baseball statistics. They’ll also give you in-depth views of sabermetrics. Sabermetrics are new baseball statistics that attempt to quantify aspects of the game that used to be impossible to quantify.Never heard of this before? Get up to speed here. In other words, fangraphs.com goes beyond just telling you what the numbers are. They also tell you how the numbers became what they are.

One of those new stats is called FIP, which stands for Fielding Independent Pitching. This particular stat aims to determine how good a pitcher really is without the help of his defense. The FIP statistic assumes that defensive players should be able to make some plays they don’t make, and they shouldn’t be able to make some of the plays that they do make. To put it another way, FIP tried to eliminate the defense from the equation. After all, earned run average has as much to do with the defense of the fielders as it does the pitchers. These stats and many more can be found at fangrphs.com.

Major League Baseball is America’s favorite past time. Baseball is a widely popular sport that starts grooming children to become professional ball players at a young age. Little league teams are the foundation upon which many MLB teams and coaches are built upon.

Most MLB coaches played Little League baseball themselves when they were young. This fundamental knowledge of baseball comes in handy for coaches as they progress along the ranks in baseball.

When a baseball player starts their career at a young age they have the advantage of experience. Someone who has played baseball their entire life will be more skilled in the fundamentals than someone who has no foundation to build upon.

Many great players of baseball loved the sport so much that they devoted their whole lives to learning how to improve at what they do. It was no chore for most MLB players to spend hours upon hours a day at the baseball diamond growing up. Most of the great players in MLB regard baseball as a passion rather than a job or hobby.

There are exceptions to every rule, however, and this is true when it comes to someone who has a natural talent for baseball. On rare occasions a coach may stumble across a player who has never played before and discovers they are a natural.Keep looking, there’s more: Curaçao’s Jurickson Profar (19) hits homerun in first MLB at-bat

Dallas Braden is an American baseball pitcher with the Oakland Athletics Major League Baseball Team. He was born in Phoenix Arizona in 1983. He started playing baseball in little league when he was a child. He went to Texas Tech College. He has had a promising career with the Oakland Athletics.
Everything went well up until April of 2011 when he hurt his shoulder. He had surgery on his left shoulder and did not pitch the rest of the year. The surgery did not go as well as planned. A second surgery was done August 27th of this year. The second surgery was to repair a torn rotator cuff. Now he has a long recovery ahead of him with no guarantees that he will be able to play again. He is under contract with the Oakland Athletics. He is still receiving his $3,350,000 salary. Only time will tell if he gets to play again.
Dallas Braden has won a Community Service Award in Stockton for collecting and distributing food to the needy. He donates money and time to charity. He is also a participant in Little League Baseball. He is a firm believer in giving back to the community and this has made him popular in his community.

With the playoffs just around the corner, there are an abundance of stories heating up around Major League Baseball.

Perhaps the biggest story in baseball is what is taking place in Washington, as the Nationals are preparing to shut down star pitcher Stephen Strasburg for the season after just two more starts. The Nationals currently have the best record in baseball and seem to be preparing to head into October without their ace. Strasburg has started 27 games this season and currently has a 15-6 record. The pitcher has dealt with injuries in the past, including Tommy John surgery in 2010, which is prompting the move by the Nationals.

Outside of D.C., the hottest story remains the playoff chase in the American League East, as the New York Yankees, the Baltimore Orioles and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays are all vying for the division crown. The Boston Red Sox have faded from contention with a lengthy losing streak, which makes this division an exciting three-horse race that appears to be going down to the wire.

Elsewhere in the American League, the Oakland Athletics are making a charge for a wild-card spot after a red-hot August that saw the A’s move into contention, perhaps to even steal the division crown from the Texas Rangers.

This year has been an up and down year for some teams, making the standings look a little bit skewed from what they actually should be. The American League is tight in every division, including the East even though the Yankees look like the dominant team by far in that division. The White Sox and Detroit have been back and forth all year in the Central Division, with the Twins looking just as terrible now as when they started the year. Texas has somewhat of a stretch on Oakland, but four games can be made up fairly quickly. Now, the National League is a different story altogether. The margins between team one and two in each division is hefty to say the least. Each of the front-runners have showed the same power and consistency throughout the entire year it seems, not slowing down or faltering at all. The Nationals are six and a half up on the Braves with the next closest team at seventeen back. Cincinnati is easily leading Central with an eight and a half game lead. The West is a little closer if you can call it that with four and a half separating San Fran and LA. The MLB is going to come down to the postseason, as it always does, to see which of these teams with the large spread is going to take it all and win the World Series.

The race for the 2012 baseball postseason is becoming clearer as the regular season reaches its climax. Many of the teams that have been regulars in the postseason over the last few years are aiming for a trip to the World Series; a number of teams that have been out of contention in recent years look to be heading to the 2012 postseason.

In terms of form, run scoring ability and the quality of the pitching rotation it is difficult to look past the Washington Nationals as the 2012 World Series champions. A strong batting lineup, including the 2010 number one overall pick in the draft Bryce Harper should ensure the Nationals enter the postseason with plenty of runs for their pitching staff to play with.Confused? Here ‘s a little help . The main concern for Washington is the imminent departure of Stephen Strasburg for the remainder of the season to protect his pitching arm for future seasons.

National League East rivals Atlanta will push Washington all the way to the postseason. The Braves will hope to erase the memory of their 2011 end of regular season implosion from a safe wildcard spot to missing the postseason; Atlanta will retain a fairytale quality to the season as fans around the league hope for a long postseason run in Braves legend Chipper Jones 19th and final season.

Around the league Washington will face competition from the losing World Series American League champions of 2010 and 2011, the Texas Rangers. The New York Yankees will also challenge for the World Series as their starting pitching rotation returns to form for the final games of the regular season.
